VIETNAM BARISTA COMPETITION AND VIETNAM AROMASTER CHAMPIONSHIP: UNITING THE COFFEE-LOVING COMMUNITY IN VIETNAM

Vietnam Barista Competition and Vietnam Aromaster Championship play a vital role in raising professional standards, strengthening the coffee-loving community, and affirming Vietnam’s place on the global coffee culture map.

VIETNAM BARISTA COMPETITION (VBC): BUILDING A STRONG VIETNAMESE BARISTA COMMUNITY

Vietnam Barista Competition is a stage where top barista talents showcase their masterful coffee-making skills. Each cup of coffee is not only an embodiment of refined flavors but also a culmination of craftsmanship, dedication, and unique personal stories. This competition goes beyond technical prowess, offering baristas a platform to express their passion for the art of coffee.

The competition is judged by an experienced panel from leading baristas from China, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore,… and consists of two rounds: the Qualifying Round and the Final Round.

In the Qualifying Round, each contestant has 15 minutes to serve 12 beverages across three categories: espresso, milk-based drinks, and creative beverages. Following the qualifying phase, finalists are announced in random order, with the ultimate winner remaining a secret until the award ceremony.

At the Vietnam Barista Competition, the judges are not only looking for a champion with extensive coffee knowledge and outstanding skills but also for a barista who can inspire and spread positive energy throughout the coffee community

VIETNAM AROMASTER CHAMPIONSHIP (VAC): THE FIRST AND UNIQUE VIETNAM SENSORY COMPETITION 

Vietnam Aromaster Championship (VAC) is a sensory competition open to all coffee enthusiasts. With the expert guidance of Vietnam’s leading barista training institute, Barista School, and the Scentone Institute of Aroma Research from South Korea, the competition sets a high standard for olfactory excellence.

Sensory science, which focuses on the perception of taste and smell, awakens the senses to the nuances of flavor. Particularly in the coffee industry,sensory skills contribute to establishing quality control habits and refining the art of flavor creation. 

The championship features three rounds: Preliminary, Semi-final, and Final. To ensure absolute fairness, all test materials and answers are carefully reviewed and sealed by members of the Scentone Institute.

In each round, contestants must identify the scents of randomly selected unlabelled vials from the test set. The challenge lies in matching the illustrated aroma cards to the corresponding vials. The champion will be the participant who achieves the highest number of correct answers in the shortest amount of time.

Continuing its mission to create a dynamic platform for the coffee-loving community, Vietnam Barista Competition and Vietnam Aromaster Championship will return at the Food & Hospitality Hanoi 2025 exhibition, taking place from March 18 to March 20, 2025, featuring an array of exciting events.
